Ground floor conversion and extension

With Barbados having the perfect climate the philosophy of outdoor living was adopted. The addition of a large veranda was taken as the starting point for the conversion of the family home, originally built in 1988.

The challenge was to convert the ground floor rooms into a self contained flat but still maintain access to the main house from the ground floor. Care was taken to blend the aesthetics of the new extension with the existing which despite its age still has a modern feel. Attention was also paid to ventilation and light to this part of the house.
